A travel company has compared more than 50 popular destinations and compiled a ranking of cities where accommodation, food, transport and entertainment cost less than 100 euros per person per day, it is reported. This is written in the blog of the British tour operator Thomas Cook.
“The post‑summer melancholy often makes us dream and plan our next trip. But why wait until next summer to get on a plane? An affordable autumn trip to a city is the perfect time for a short journey that will fill the void in your heart left after the vacation, and you won’t have to save up for another big trip,” the publication writes.

The most advantageous destination turned out to be the capital of Albania, Tirana. On average, one day of recreation here costs about 59 euros per person. Accommodation in a three‑star hotel costs an average of 32 euros per person per night. Dinner at an inexpensive restaurant costs approximately 8.50 euros, and local beer costs only 1.50 euros.
Bucharest took second place. In the capital of Romania, an average dinner at a restaurant costs a little over €12, and a day pass for the bus costs about €1.50.
Two Turkish destinations also made it into the top five most affordable cities. Antalya shared third place with Warsaw, and Istanbul ended up in fifth position.
Istanbul is particularly notable for its affordable housing prices. The average cost of staying in a hotel is about 28 euros per person, and you can have a cheap meal for about 8–9 euros.
Eastern Europe and Turkey remain the most accessible
“Urban destinations in Eastern Europe and Turkey consistently demonstrate affordable prices. With the growth of tourist flows, they will no longer remain a secret to travelers for long,” said Nicholas Smith, director of dynamic package tours at Thomas Cook.
The ranking includes 13 European cities where the estimated daily expenses per person do not exceed €100.
