Poland’s Baltic Coast in Autumn: The Seaside Resort Drawing Visitors

Tourists are flocking to the Baltic region for holidays from various European countries.

This year, Prague, Budapest and Vilnius are particularly popular among foreign destinations. However, some tourists opt for a classic vacation by the Polish sea instead of short city trips to European capitals.

Despite the fact that the Baltic region is mainly associated with leisure during the holiday season, an increasing number of people, in particular Poles, are postponing trips to seaside resorts until autumn. Lower prices, increasingly better hotel infrastructure, and the absence of crowds are just some of the factors that attract tourists to Western Pomerania during the off‑season, writes Radio ZET.

“Many hotels, boarding houses and public catering establishments speak about the best autumn in the last decade. This is due to the very good weather over the Baltic Sea and the fact that many facilities offer, for example, special prices for customers, ” says Hanna Moisiuk, President of the Northern Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Szczecin.

Therefore, the Baltic region is truly incredibly busy on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The weather is the queen here. A beautiful golden autumn means crowds by the sea, but when it’s raining and the wind is blowing, the beaches and promenades empty out.

The weather attracts tourists to Western Pomerania.

Sunny weather is undoubtedly one of the main reasons for the successful start to autumn. Everything indicates that high temperatures will persist at least in the first half of October. According to forecasts from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, the temperature in Western Pomerania will hover around 20 degrees over the next few days.

“If there is weather – there are tourists. At the sea, this pattern seems to be the most universal. We can see that September turned out to be very successful in terms of weather, and there is really no shortage of guests in Mendzyzdroj, Kolobrzeg, Swinoustje, Poberovac or Reval. Of course, this is a different kind of tourism than in July, ” Moisyuk said.

According to her, in Western Pomerania, you want more walks, relaxation, delicious food in restaurants, and less-swimming in the Baltic, but there are already times when the sea attracts not only the sea itself.

Swinoustje – “top location”

According to the president of the Northern Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Swinoustje remains a “top location” in Western Pomerania, even outside the summer season.

However, less obvious localities such as Wolin, Kamen – Pomorski or Gryfice, which attract fans of “quiet hunting”, are also growing in popularity. Among the classic seaside resorts, Mendzyzdroj, Reval, Poberovac and Pustkovo are enjoying growing interest.

“We are satisfied – there are tourists from Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, everyone praises the service, feels good here and knows that autumn in the Baltic Sea is high quality, and prices are relatively lower. This is especially noticeable when tourists come from Germany and are really surprised by the prices, ” says Grzegorz Dobosch, owner of the Hamilton Hotel in Swinoustje.

Everything indicates that the best period for entrepreneurs is still ahead. Many sites have already prepared offers for New Year’s, Christmas, and local entertainment, such as walruses.

Similar packages were in high demand in previous years, which only confirms that the settlements in Western Pomerania and the Baltic region have become year‑round resorts.
